Rotary Actuator

MASCOT spring cylinder rotary actuator is a powerful, high-torque and high-stiffness pneumatic actuator, which can be used for precise throttling or on-off applications. Uniquely designed compact sized cylinders actuators accept supply pressures up to 150 psi, making very high torque available in a relatively compact unit making it the first choice for MASCOT control valves like the DiskFlo high performance butterfly valve, VFlo Segmented Ball Valve and the EFlo Eccentric Plug Valve. The MASCOT rotary actuator uses a “rocking” piston assembly for direct conversion of linear motion to rotary motion. The rocking piston assembly along with a splined shaft and lever eliminates any lost motion due to backlash.

  • Rocking Piston: The unique design of the MASCOT rotary actuators features a “rocking” piston with a fixed connection at the shaft arm rather than a scotch yoke mechanism or a rack and pinion mechanism which are both prone to backlash making this actuator the preferred choice for control applications.
  • High Torque Cylinder: Operating pressure of up to 150 psi (10.3 Bar) results in a substantially higher torque capability compared to diaphragm actuators resulting in achieving a tighter shutoff for the valve.
  • Low Deadband & Excellent Positioning Accuracy: Double-acting configuration responds quickly to signal changes and provides high repeatability and low hysteresis.
  • Lightweight & Compact: The Actuator is substantially lighter and more compact than comparable rotary diaphragm actuators which offers ease of maintenance.
  • Adjustable Stops: Adjustable stroke stops prevent excessive rotation and reduce excessive torque on shaft. They also act as mechanical limit stops to mechanically limit the control valve’s travel for safety considerations.
  • Low Air Consumption: Cylinder design uses less supply air than comparable diaphragm actuators resulting in lower operating cost for the plant.
  • Ease of Maintenance: Periodic maintenance is easy to perform since the spring cylinder actuator only requires the removal of three parts to access all internal parts. Moreover the actuators are fully field reversible without the need for any additional parts.
