CavFlo™ – Cavitation Control trim

CavFlo-Cavitation Control Trim by Mascot Valves

The MASCOT CavFlo trim effectively eliminates cavitation damage and reduces the hydrodynamic noise in control valves. The CavFlo trim reduces the cavitation damage by controlling the concentration and location of the cavitation bubble implosion away from the metal parts of the trim. The Multi-Stage CavFlo trim on the other hand eliminates cavitation damage by ensuring that the outlet/stage pressure stays above the vapor pressure.

The CavFlo trim can be applied with 1 to 6 stages effectively eliminating cavitation damage from the Control Valve.

  • Mutual Impingement Technology: The innermost stage of the CavFlo trim is so designed that causes diametrically opposed jets of fluid to collide with each other at the center of the retainer. Due to this mutual impingement and the turbulence so created by the expanding jets of the cavitation bubbles the energy gets dissipated before they come close to any metal surface in the downstream.
  • Stepped Hole: The holes in the innermost stage of the CavFlo trim are stepped, causing the vena contracta to move away from the surface of the retainer hence protecting it from any cavitation damage.
  • Sudden Expansion and Contraction Technology: In Multi-Stage CavFlo trims use a series of drilled hole retainers along with restrictive channels which cause the fluid to contract inside of the restrictive channels and then suddenly expand as they exit from the drilled holes causing staged pressure drop.
  • Torturous Path: The Multi-Stage CavFlo retainers are stacked in such a way that the fluid faces sudden directional changes while it moves from the outer stage towards the inner stage.
  • Fine Control of the Pressure Drop: The restrictive channels in each inner stage are carefully designed such that the flow area increases to minimize the number of stages and ensuring that a higher-pressure drop is taken in the outer stage rather than the inner stages.
  • Specially Engineered Solutions: The Multi-Stage CavFlo trims are specially engineered trims for each application after careful review by the engineering team ensuring that the trim is tailormade for the application precisely eliminating cavitation damage from the control valve.
  • Easy to Maintain: The CavFlo retainers are held together by use of pins at the top held in place by small weld beads. The welds can be easily ground or machined to allow disassembly and cleaning.
